March for the Vote: We won’t go back!

Governor's Palace Green Duke of Gloucester St., Williamsburg, VA, United States

Our voting rights are under attack, and we won't go back! Join us as we commemorate the 104th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote in the United States on August 18, 1920. While this was a significant milestone, it would take another 45 years for the Civil Rights Act to dismantle state laws that hindered Black Americans from voting. We gather to celebrate this historic achievement and to recognize the ongoing efforts to ensure that every American has the right to vote. The event will begin at 4:00 pm on the Palace Green in Colonial Williamsburg (200 Palace Green Street). From there, we will march down Duke of Gloucester Street to the Capitol, where local leaders will share inspirational messages. Please wear white to honor the suffragettes, bring your signs, and come ready to celebrate and advocate for the rights of all Americans! Co-sponsored by Williamsburg Action and W&M Vox/Planned Parenthood.

Historic Triangle Dems September meeting

on Zoom and by phone Williamsburg, VA, United States

This Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 pm on ZOOM Register here! We're all hearing a lot about Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation's game plan for a Republican presidency next year.  Trump says he doesn't know anything about it -- but we need to know all we can about what's being planned if Trump is elected in November. W&M assistant teaching professor Alan Kennedy will walk us through the plan at our ZOOM meeting Thursday at 7 pm.  We're meeting virtually so the most people possible can tune in -- and because we don't want to slow down all the organizing activity at our Dems HQ.  Alan also serves on our Historic Triangle Dems executive board, and was part of Virginia's delegation to the Democratic National Convention last month. Don't miss this chance to learn what's in store under a Trump presidency!

Early Voting Begins

Early voting begins Friday, Sept. 20 and continues until Nov. 2 on weekdays plus two Saturdays, Oct. 26 and Nov. 2.  Find out where to vote and when your early vote center is open in our Voter Guide.
