Join us at headquarters for drinks and nibbles and a chance to celebrate all the amazing work we did together this year. We'll be both inside and outside, and (fingers crossed) the weather forecast looks promising -- the mid-50s with some sunshine. We are so grateful for your generosity and time this year. Thousands of postcards written, doorhangers hung, doors knocked and texts sent. Polls staffed with smiling volunteers for early voting and Election Day. The first billboards we've ever done. We have some tough challenges coming up next year as we try to hold the State Senate and retake the House of Delegates -- and we also know that, thanks to you, we'll put forth another amazing effort. But for now, let's party. We hope to see you there.
Don't miss our inspiring speaker, Dr. Deborah Fabian, a retired orthopediac surgeon and W&M graduate. Deborah will share her journey to transition and talk about the wave of anti-trans policies being enacted into law across the country. Growing up in the '50s and '60s and '70s, Deborah struggled to reconcile her gender identity in a world that saw transgender as unnatural, sinful and even illegal. The story of how she acknowledges her authentic self and the love and acceptance -- and the discrimination -- she encounters is riveting. Register here to join the meeting by phone or Zoom.
We're delighted to host Connie Harshaw as our speaker for our monthly meeting. Connie is president of the Let Freedom Ring Foundation, which is leading the efforts to preserve, conserve and protect the First Baptist Church historic sites, buildings, and historic artifacts and to educate the community about the history of Williamsburg’s first black church and the country’s oldest and continuously active black congregation. She retired from Federal government service after 30 years, serving as chief operating officer of the National Capital Planning Commission and negotiating site parameters for the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C. Register here for a link to join us via Zoom or phone.
