Our candidates for 2025: state and local races

This year statewide races for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General are on the ballot, along with every House of Delegates seat and some local races. James City County has races for Board of Supervisors and School Board in the Jamestown and Powhatan Districts. Williamsburg has one local race for Commissioner of the Revenue. York County and Poquoson have no local races this year.

Here are the Democratic candidates who have qualified so far for the ballot in November, plus an Independent school board candidate who we are endorsing. Our Democratic candidates for Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General will be determined in a statewide primary election on Tuesday, June 17 (see details on primary voting and the candidates on the primary ballot below).

Voting in the primary election

Click here to find your polling place for Primary Day, Tuesday, June 17 from 6 am to 7 pm.

Early voting begins Friday, May 2 and continues Monday-Friday plus the two Saturdays before Primary Day, June 7 and June 14:

In James City County: JCC Vote Center, 4095 Ironbound Road, 8 am to 5 pm.

In York County: 5322 George Washington Memorial Highway, Yorktown, and 6614 Mooretown Rd., Ste. A, Williamsburg. Weekdays 8:30 am to 5 pm; Saturdays, June 7 and June 14, 9 am to 5 pm.

In Poquoson: City Hall Council Chambers, 500 City Hall Avenue. Weekdays 8:30 am to 4:30 pm; Saturdays, June 7 and June 14, from 9 am to 4:30 pm.

In Williamsburg: Williamsburg Registrar’s Office, 401 Lafayette St., 8 am to 4:30 pm. On Saturday, June 14, early voting is extended from 8 am to 5 pm.
