Jen Tierney, Chair
Jen’s a professional political consultant, working in more than 75 campaigns, many in California, developing direct mail, producing radio and TV, managing staff and budgets and developing strategy. She is a valued advisor to local candidates here, including Monty Mason, Jim Icenhour, John McGlennon and many more.
Jan Keady, 1st Vice Chair, Williamsburg
Jan’s managed small businesses, counseled at a women’s shelter and enjoyed substitute teaching, all while honing her skills as an advocate and people person. She’s a former board member for the League of Women Voters and has worked hard to elect candidates who share her values.
Christine Payne, Vice Chair, James City County
Christine’s a nurse with an MBA in Healthcare who has a passion for gun safety, diversity and inclusion, and better healthcare for all. A tireless lobbyist for progressive causes, she successfully completed the 2019 Political Leaders Program at Sorenson Institute.
Tara Hassan-Taylor, Vice Chair, York County
Tara has long been active in Democratic politics in York County, and is passionate about gun safety, strong public education and getting younger people involved in politics. She handles social media for the committee as well as helping to organize events and recruit volunteers.
Taylor Bresnan, Vice Chair, Poquoson
Chairperson for the Poquoson Electoral Board for two and a half years, Taylor is active in the community through school PTOs, volunteer work, and other school committees.
April Greener, Vice Chair, Membership/Outreach
April moved to James City County in 2022 with her husband and two school-age kids. Involved in Democratic politics for over 20 years, she was Research Director for Speaker Pelosi and a Medicare and Social Security policy analyst for progressive organizations on Capitol Hill.
MK Sizemore, Vice Chair, Media/Communications
MK brings her experience in community newspapers and film/multimedia to keeping WJCC Dems informed and motivated. She designs printed materials for candidates and for our outreach, and coordinates postcard writing programs during election season.
Judi Campbell, Vice Chair, Campaigns
York County/Poquoson
Judi is an Organization Development Consultant heading her own company. Judi has helped clients nationwide develop and achieve their goals while identifying and eliminating barriers to execution. She is adept in team building, conflict resolution, diversity and inclusion.
George Buskey, Vice Chair, Hospitality & Events Williamsburg/James City County
A 35-year resident of Grove, George owns and operates Yeksub Food Trucks and Commissary in Newport News. He is a member of the YJCW NAACP, Cornerstone Masonic Lodge #44 and St. John’s Baptist Church. He has worked from dawn til close to greet voters in Grove during the past two elections.
Gerald Mitchell, Special Projects Coordinator, Williamsburg/James City County
Gerald’s run for Williamsburg-James City County Sheriff in 2019 earned him a solid second-place finish. He’s a Navy veteran with extensive experience in law enforcement, anti-terrorism and tactical response and an enthusiastic supporter of veterans causes.
Chris Mayer, Special Projects Coordinator, York County/Poquoson
Chris Mayer served five terms as chair of the York-Poquoson Democratic Committee prior to our merger. A W&M graduate, he previously owned The Band Box, an iconic Williamsburg record store. He is currently a title examiner for Diamond Sky Services.
Corey Buttram, Secretary
Corey has been a resident of the Historic Triangle for over 20 years and is a librarian at Virginia Peninsula Community College. She previously served as the 2nd Vice Chair for the James City County Democrats from 2015-2017.
Jim Icenhour, Treasurer
Jim works tirelessly for Dems in James City County. He’s expert at navigating and training new candidates in campaign finance and reporting. Retired as an Air Force and Delta Airlines pilot, he is a four-term member of the James City County Board of Supervisors. Faced with a redrawn district in 2017, he knocked every door and won by a substantial margin.
